Y'know, part of the thrill of introducing kids to music is showing them how fun and exciting and powerful it is to play live. Dig this 1977 performance of "In the City" by The Jam on "So It Goes," hosted by Tony Wilson. Then try and keep your young ones from picking up their Rickenbackers and rockin' out.

Was that Poly Styrene from X-Ray Spex in the first few seconds? They were playing in the background of the Jam intro.
My seven-year-old girls are bemused when I play them, "Oh Bondage, Up Yours!" But they like the videos on YouTube.
I'm sure it was, Bruce, because from what I've read about "So It Goes" they showcased punk bands from the get-go. The Sex Pistols made their first tv appearance ever on "So It Goes"!
My primary guitar for 20+ years was a Ric 330 because of this band!
I'm glad to have visited your blog and good to know you! I find it interesting and informative video.
